After taking a year off, Rick Staggs is back as an assistant freshman coach. Staggs spent the 2006 -2007 campaign as an assistant Jv coach here at Spanish Springs High School.

   Staggs began his coaching career in 1986 as the head Jv and assistant varsity coach at Cuba High School in Cuba, NM. Two years later he became the head varsity coach and led his team to the New Mexico State Tournament. Staggs was named 3A newcomer and regional coach of the year that year. He completed 3 seasons as the varsity head coach, losing in the regional finals the following year and going back to the state tournament his final year before moving to Reno.

   In the Reno area, Staggs has coached basketball at Dilworth and Mendive Middle School as well as an assistant Jv coach for the girls program at Reed High School.

   Coach Staggs grew up in Muskogee, Ok. He graduated and played tennis for Northeastern State University and is currently the head tennis coach here at Spanish Springs High School. Coach Staggs has been married to his wife Lezlie for the past 11 years and has a daughter Jessica.
