Scoring came easy for the Spanish Springs Cougars early in their season opener Friday night. However, the scoring pace slowed and the Fallon Greenwave proved they were a game foe.
Still, after grabbing the quick lead, Spanish Springs never relinquished its advantage and posted a 60-52 triumph on opening night of the boys prep basketball season.

by Dan Eckles Nov 27, 2008 When Kyle Penney took over the Spanish Springs boys basketball program prior to last season he brought a passionate, no-nonsense approach. The Cougars’ coach has an honest straight-forward style.
Spanish Springs’ players don’t have to guess what Penney wants. He makes sure they know. And that approach is paying off. Spanish Springs earned the first Northern 4A postseason invitation in the school’s seven-years of existence last winter. Additionally, its 13-9 record was a program best.
